Video Surveillance Software and Microsoft Windows Vista

Disclaimer:  Changing your security settings can potentially expose your computer to viruses, and other malicious software.  It is YOUR responsibility to make sure that your computer is secure after the DVR live viewing software has been installed.  You will only have to disable these security settings the 1st time you log in.

You must be logged in to your computer with a user id that has administrator access

If you have Internet Explorer v 8, Click here first, and follow the instructions before proceeding to the steps below.

If changing the IE settings did not help, you must Disable or Turn Off UAC (User Account Control)

To Turn off UAC (Instructions taken from Microsoft's web page http://windowshelp.microsoft.com)

1.

Open User Accounts by clicking the Start button, clicking Control Panel, clicking User Accounts and Family Safety (or clicking User Accounts, if you are connected to a network domain), and then clicking User Accounts.

2.

Click Turn User Account Control on or off. If you are prompted for an administrator password or confirmation, type the password or provide confirmation.

3.

Select the Use User Account Control (UAC) to help protect your computer check box to turn on UAC, or clear the check box to turn off UAC, and then click OK.

Reboot your machine

Once the PC has been rebooted, temporarily disable any 3rd party firewall software.  Norton Internet Security is a common program that comes with new computers.  This software needs to be disabled to install the DVR software

The DVR software needs to install an ActiveX Control, make sure you allow the installation of the ActiveX Control.

Once you are able to log in to the DVR software, enable Norton Internet Security (if you disabled it) and enable or turn on UAC by following the same steps as above.
